As young man I craved your attention
I was dying to be seen by you
To be held and made to feel special
Like I was the only man around
Your life was never centred around me
Or perhaps it was I who never knew
I've been blind before and I struggle
To see the fine lines in between
I've paid my price by complaining
And tried too hard to change who you are
There is nothing I can ́ t solve with my two hands
I need to learn to be strong on my own
I need to learn to be on my own
With age comes certain knowledge
Your own importance starts to fade
Then you have kids and you're second
But nothing was better when I was on my own
I've paid my price by complaining
And tried too hard to change who you are
There is nothing I can ́ t solve with my two hands
I need to learn to be strong on my own
I need to learn to be on my own

Anderson's Son

Everyone you meet is someone’s daughter or son
They all play a role in their own blood line
When my son was born I climbed the family tree
I became a father and not just somebody’s son
I trace my blood line five generations back
A long line of men who worked the land
To 1806 when the first Anderson was born
A name given since then from father unto son
I met my love in a bar in Camden Town
We packed our bags found a car and headed south
To settle down and start a family on our own
It took some time but finally you were born
I trace my blood line five generations back
A long line of men who worked the land
To 1806 when the first Anderson was born
A name given since then from father unto son
We had your sister a couple of years before
We kind of hoped to have another girl
But when you arrived I have to admit
It sure felt good to have another man around
I trace your blood line six generations back
A long line of men just like your dad
To 1806 when the first Anderson was born
A name given since then from father unto son

For seven long years we tried and failed
We lost your unborn sister along the way
I’ve never felt so sure before
About something so out of my control
We thought we would lose you too
But you kept on fighting and stayed alive
38 weeks of nerve wrecking hell
Until the time came and they helped you out
Oh one day you will understand
Why this was so important to us
We tried so hard to make the dream come true
And we are forever grateful for you
All the pain and struggles set aside
It was worth all the months of trials
Now when I hold you in my arms
And watch your beautiful smile
Oh one day you will understand
Why this was so important to us
We tried so hard to make the dream come true
And we are forever grateful for you

I never thought I would see you again
For sure you were lost as soon as you left
Then one night you stood there in the door
I grabbed your hand never to let you go
Oh will the years treat us well
In sickness and health I will stand by your side
And do what I can to treat you right
Come and lie down beside me my love
I walked you through the grass
To a church that had stood tall for a thousand years
We promised to always be true
I cried like a child of your gentle touch
Oh will the years treat us well
In sickness and health I will stand by your side
And do what I can to treat you right
Come and lie down beside me my love
I walked you down the aisle
Never before have I felt like I do for you
I smiled when you said I do
I’m so glad it finally became us two
Oh will the years treat us well
In sickness and health I will stand by your side
And do what I can to treat you right
Come and lie down beside me my love
